Eugene Makwetja is an SAP BW/BI consultant with deep experience in enterprise data warehousing, analytics, and reporting. Over a career spanning banking, insurance, mining, retail, and public sector engagements, he has helped organizations build and modernize the systems that turn data into reliable business insight.
His technical expertise covers the full SAP BI stack, including SAP BW 3.x, BW 7.x, BW on HANA, and SAP BW/4HANA. Within these environments he has developed strong hands-on capability in data modelling, ETL architecture, ABAP for BW, performance optimization, and enterprise reporting frameworks, giving him a comprehensive view of how data warehouse landscapes are designed and maintained.
Much of his consulting work has focused on modernization. He has designed scalable BW architectures aligned to Layered Scalable Architecture principles, delivered upgrades and migration initiatives, optimized extractors and ABAP routines, and implemented reporting using BEx, SAP BusinessObjects, and SAP Analytics Cloud. His project history includes regulatory reporting in banking, procurement reporting optimization in the public sector, and BW upgrade and blueprinting work across several industries.
Beyond project delivery, he has contributed to the wider SAP community as an SAP Education training presenter, delivering official BW training courses and mentoring consultants and technical teams. This experience reflects a genuine ability to explain complex concepts clearly, a quality that carries directly into his writing.
Having recently completed certifications as an SAP BW/4HANA Specialist and an SAP Analytics Cloud Data Analyst, he continues to align his long-standing expertise with modern analytics platforms. Drawing on decades of hands-on data warehousing experience, Eugene Makwetja writes to help consultants, architects, and reporting teams understand how BW landscapes are built, migrated, and modernized, and how thoughtful design supports dependable enterprise reporting.
